谷恒生の伝奇時代小説を、OVAとして4巻、さらに続編となる『寒月一凍悪霊斬り』を2巻という6巻構成で映像化した。時は江戸、元禄の世。那須九峰に眠るといわれる黄金の鉱脈があった。鉱脈の謎を解く鍵は黄金の竜と、そして高天原の魍魎と交わることとされていた。葉月藩はその黄金の竜の秘密を握るとして、将軍・綱吉などに狙われる存在だ。そんな葉月藩に、藩の影として迫りくる敵を凄絶な秘剣・不動剣を用い死闘を繰り広げる男がいた。名を葉月影七郎。彼は葉月藩主である兄の影。竜の秘密を隠す娘・織絵を守り、魍魎を両断する秘剣の煌めきが、歴史のひだに隠された闇を切り裂いていく――!!
